IIT Rajasthan is committed to develop state of the art, research-led and multidisciplinary centres of excellence where scholars from different disciplines will carry forward productive research on emerging and important technological, scientific and social issues that characterize the challenges faced by the contemporary world. IIT Rajasthan has three centres of excellence,namely,
1) Centre of Excellence in Energy
2) Centre of Excellence in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
3) Centre of Excellence in Systems Science (SS)

PhD program at IIT Rajasthan requires mathematics background at +2 level. After joining the program, you are required take afew mathematics courses as part of your course work. However, those got admitted, depending on the requirement, may be provided with preparatory courses in mathematics before starting of the actual course work.

Applications for admission to the Interdisciplinary Ph.D Programme in the above mentioned three Centres of Excellence(under Regular and Full Time category, Part-time/Sponsored category) are invited from the eligible candidates who have completed the prescribed qualifying degree
The candidates who are in the final semesterof qualifying degree also can apply for provisional admission
However, they must submit the proof of successful completion of the qualifying degree with minimum requirement of percentage of marks on or before 10th August, 2012
Students admitted to the Ph.D programme will have opportunity of interdisciplinary research within the scope of on thematic areas identified by the respective CoE
Thus scholars have a unique option to carry out research even beyond their basic disciplines/ expertise in the qualifying degree
Preference will be given to applicants whoseacademic background and credentials strongly exhibit the potentials to carry out application based research in matching themes of the centres of excellence
Prospective scholars, before applying, must go through the theme areas of research of centres of excellence

Candidates applying for two CoEs need to submit demand draft of Rs 600/- (OBC/General), Rs 300/- (SC/ST/PD)
