OBJECTIVE :
In the recent years direct applications of Physics have extended to fields as diverse as industries, communication, space, biology & medicine, printing etc. The Department of Applied Physics offers M.Sc. Physics Programme which is admittedly going to cater to the needs of ever increasing application oriented world of today. Three emerging areas of basic as well as applied aspects of Physics are in the present curricula. They are Condensed Matter Physics& Materials Science that has widespread application from biosciences to cosmology; Laser Physics that forms a major tool for determining electronic structures starting from biomolecules, non-linear optical materials to organic dyes; and Opto-Electronics. Fiber optics communication and its marriage with laser science is also a recurring theme of the present course. With advent of high speed computer, large scale simulation of real system is possible that helps to get indepth knowledge of material structure, activity of various drug molecules, efficiency of communication network and many real time simulations Radiation Physics Course (Theory & Practicals) has also been introduced as an elective paper recently. The curricle/Syllabi for which have been formulated with the assistance Health PhysicsDivision of BARC Mumbai and Radio Ecology Centre of our University. Apart from these specialisations subject matter of all other papers have large overlap with the thrust areas in the frontiers of physical sciences. Laboratories are equipped with the modern set up. Project work is essential component of curriculum for M.Sc. (Physics) students in fourth semester.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS :
B.Sc.(Hons.) in Physics with atleast 50% marksor B.Sc. with atleast 50% marks in aggregate with Physics as one of the subjects.
FEE STRUCTURE :
M.Sc. (Physics) = Rs. 17,000/- per annum
